Artist’s Note: ‘A New Dawn’ was inspired by my love of The Burren National Park in the West of Ireland. 

I am fascinated by the changing light on this unique limestone landscape and this colourful painting is of the first light at dawn as it shines over the mountain ridge and onto the mountain road to Slieve Elva. The fields are changing to beautiful Autumnal colours of gold and burnt umber and the old stone walls and cottages are more visible on the hillside above Fanore, Co. Clare.

The painting has a 3D quality to it as it there is a layer of beach sand from Fanore, in the mountains and stone walls. When natural light shines on the painting, it appears to come alive which draws you in to the vibrance and energy of this unique landscape.
