Artist’s Note: This rich earthy abstract painting was inspired by sailing holidays along the Croatian Coast.  There were many locations that I adored visiting and one of my favourite is the historical city of Dubrovnik in Croatia.

Carmella is a palette knife painting created with layers of colour and paint splashes giving the viewer many insights into old city of Dubrovnik and it’s pretty harbour.  I was intrigued by the old narrow streets with clothes drying on the washing lines between the streets, the bright light shafts and glimpses of the sails and yachts in the harbour.
